September Class - 6 Sessions (Sunday Morning)

€360.00

Dates: 7.9., 14.9., 21.9., 28.9., 5.10., 12.10.

Time: 09:30-12:30

This is a 6-week potter’s wheel class designed for individuals who already have some experience working on the wheel. In this course, you will deepen your skills by refining two foundational centering techniques—coning and steady-hold centering—and by practicing how to lift the walls and shape various forms, from wide to more closed shapes.

You will also have the opportunity to try throwing off the hump and working with larger amounts of clay. Guidance will be provided on trimming your pieces and decorating the surface using carving techniques and creative approaches with different clay slips. A variety of glazes from Amaco, Mayco, and Speedball will be available to finish your work.

You will gain an understanding of the basic anatomy of glazes and be introduced to the workings of the kiln, including how to properly prepare pieces for each firing stage.

Throughout the course, you will also learn how to store clay correctly for drying, maintain a safe studio environment, and recycle clay in a professional way.

Important Health Notice: Pregnant women beyond three months are advised not to participate in this course. Additionally, individuals with pacemakers should avoid this course, as the electromagnetic fields from the potter's wheels may interfere with pacemakers.

Terms and Conditions: By signing up for this course, you agree to the current Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

  • This course is for everyone who has some experience working on the wheel (one pottery course is required) or for intermediate students who wish to improve their technique.

  • Wear relaxed, comfortable clothing and keep your nails short. An apron and a towel will be provided in the studio.

  • There are no additional charges. Clay and burning are included in the course price.

  • Including the teacher, there will be a total of 3-5 people.

  • The teacher will explain how to safely work with clay. Working with clay can sometimes create humid environments and dust. To ensure safety, the studio is equipped with a dehumidifier and a high-quality HEPA-13 filter to purify the air during the workshop.

  • If you miss a lesson, you can make up the missed hours in the atelier without the teacher (limited to max. 2 sessions). The date will be arranged in coordination with the teacher.

  • All items you create in the studio are included in the price. If you wish to fire your own pieces (not made during the course), it costs 0,003 EUR per cm³ (0,004 EUR per cm³ if you use the glazes from atelier) . A full kiln (100l) is 120 EUR. Prices include VAT. Firing is available only for students during the course.

  • Our courses are limited to only 4 participants, creating a more intimate and calm environment. This allows the teacher to dedicate more quality time to each student, ensuring personalized guidance and a more enriching learning experience.

  • For everyone under 25 years old and unemployed (registered at AMS), there is a 10% discount on all classes. For discounts, please use the code KLMN10. Discounts are trust-based; no proof is needed.
